Evaluating the physical symptoms

This is a very simple step which normally any doctor may take up. This involves examining the patient for temperature with the thermometer, checking for blood pressure etc. The doctor will then check for functioning of lungs with the stethoscope. He will inquire the patient what was he experiencing the past few days.

X-ray

Blood Test

If the blood cells are more than the normal range then this clearly indicates that the patient is infected. The production of white blood cells is amplified to fight against the walking pneumonia.

Blood Culture

Blood test would show us only the presence of infection but blood culture would provide us with a very clear picture as to what is the cause of this walking pneumonia. When the doctor asks for the blood culture as a part of walking pneumonia diagnosis he or she will send the blood to the lab. In the lab the technicians will try to grow bacteria and viruses in the sample.

Sputum Test

Sputum or the phlegm is often accumulated in the mouth every time the patient coughs. This sputum is collected in the sterile container. This is then tested to see what type of bacteria is responsible for the walking pneumonia.

After each of this diagnosis only, the doctor is able to decide on the antibiotic. The doctor for sure will always go in for a stronger dose for a speedy recovery.Pneumonia is contagious and hence needs to be attended immediately.
